As a courier, most of your jobs come from nearby. That means you need to show up in local search results — especially when people Google “courier near me” or “same-day delivery in [city]”. That’s where Local SEO comes in.
What is Local SEO?
Local SEO helps your business appear in Google Maps, local listings, and location-based searches. It’s different from regular SEO because it’s all about your town, city, or service area. If someone nearby searches for a courier, you want your name to show up — not a national company hundreds of miles away.
1. Set Up a Google Business Profile
This is the #1 local SEO move. Go to Google Business and create or claim your listing. Add your business name, address (or service area), phone number, and a link to your website.
- Add photos of your van, logo, or deliveries
- Use the right categories (e.g. Courier Service, Delivery Service)
- Keep your hours updated
2. Get Google Reviews
Ask your customers to leave reviews. More reviews = more trust. It also helps you rank higher. Send a quick message after each delivery with a link to your profile. Say thanks when they leave one!
3. Add Your Location to Your Website
Make sure your site mentions your service area. For example:
“Same-day courier in Bradford, Leeds, and Wakefield.”
Put it in your homepage text, footer, and contact page.
4. Use Local Keywords
Include phrases like:
- “Same-day courier London”
- “Van delivery service Birmingham”
- “Courier near me in Bristol”

5. List Your Business in Local Directories
Add your courier business to local directories like Yell.com, FreeIndex, and others. Make sure your name, address, and phone number (NAP) match exactly on each site.
